Summer 2016 Lab

In Summer 2016, Dr. Kristi Multhaup, Dr. Greta Munger, Dr. Laura Sockol, and I were awarded a Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunity GrantĀ from the American Psychological Association. The grant allowed us to host 4 rising sophomores or juniors with no prior research in psychology for an 8-week research intensive program. The 4 labs met together twice a week for student-led journal club discussions, and faculty-led research and professional skill development sessions.

Vance Graves ’19 worked in my lab as part of the APA-funded summer program. Debbie Rabinovich ’19 (UPenn) also worked part-time in my lab. Our main project was to develop and pilot test materials for a larger study assessing the impact of colorblind and multicultural classroom diversity philosophies on the performance and persistence of women and underrepresented ethnic minority students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) classes.
